Ball Point Footnote

This is truly amazing--most waitresses leave a cheap plastic pen for you to sign the bill with. Tonight, my waitress left me a Zebra F-301. This was, for a long time, my favorite ball point pen. It might still be. But I'm torn between two pens. Keep reading for my long anticipated ball point pen entry.

Late Entry

The wings are eaten, but I've got to mention this one: "867-5309 Jenny" by Tommy Tutone. I like this song, better than average definately--but the reason this song will be remembered is due to the havoc we all assume it caused to those unfortunate enough to have it as a real phone number. Or is this just one of those urban legends? Leave it to snopes to tell us the truth!

McWings

Here I am at the old place at long last! Tonight's song for comment is "Coming Up" by Paul McCartney. Now I remember really enjoying this song when it came out, though at the time I probably didn't realize it was from Paul's first solo album since Wings broke up. Wings, I realize now, was one of my favorite bands when I was 5 years old, so I probably would've been very crabby if anyone told me they broke up when they did. Or I would if I was able to realize I may never hear another song by the band that performed "Let 'Em In" ever again! I'm sure it was several years after this song came out before I realized the significance of "The Beatles," and that Paul was a part of that obscure group. Some guy named John Lennon was killed the year this album came out--who's that?

The song is quite catchy, and the video is fun in that Paul plays every band member, each in a different costume. At the same time, the song is quite corny and the video is embarrassing in that Paul plays every band member, each in a different costume.

Finger In My Ear

Well @#$! This morning I was supposed to kick start my non-existent exercise program by participating in the Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot, a 5 mile race in town. Instead I got out of bed at 6 am and went to the nearest ER. My ear was killing me! My symptoms started a good week ago with some occasional sudden ear pain, but since Tuesday my left ear has become swollen and plugged up. I made an appointment to see the doctor but couldn't get in until next week. Obviously this morning I couldn't wait any longer. I feel a little dumb for going since the diagnosis is just a case of swimmer's ear, but oh well, better safe than sorry. So I left the ER this morning in the same amount of pain but with a prescription for acetic acid. Wait, did I just pay $10 co-pay (and whatever the ER visit will be... can't wait to see that) for a small bottle of vinegar?

I guess I couldn't have planned it any better; for whatever reason I decided not to make any plans for Thanksgiving, so no one is expecting me, and JT picked up my race packet for me yesterday. I've never skipped a race I had planned to do, am I allowed to wear the shirt?

Happy Thanksgiving.

Obviously...

... I have put my life completely on hold until I have a washing machine. It is scheduled for delivery this Friday so perhaps I will resume my life then.

Exciting New Purchase?!

So I did laundry again at a laundromat last night. Fun. I do have a used dryer in my apartment, but I haven't hooked it up, and I left my old roommate's washer in storage. He said I could continue to use it but I didn't want to deal with having to move it up and down two flights of stairs--and I want to own one!

I have no idea why, but I find myself getting excited about buying a front loading washing machine. I stopped by Sears Grand and Fry's last night to check out the products. Today, I *think* I placed an order online for a Kenmore. I'm not entirely sure, because it listed that it was subject to availability and I know they don't have any of this model at the local Sears stores. But, it let me complete the order so we'll see what happens. This particular model has a bunch of bells and whistles that I know I'll never use. One online review complained of the excess complexity of its controls, another said its complexity made it particularly attractive to guys. I can still program a VCR, so I think I'll like it. And, the best part is that it has a big window so I can watch my laundry spin around instead of cable TV!

Coming soon, my long anticipated ball point pen entry.

Vehicles--Check

I got my motorcycle moved tonight, and was also able to arrange the donation of my Ford Probe to Goodwill. I think this means I never have to go back to the former residence again. I feel sad that I'll never see my old car again, even though I haven't driven it in four months (and it wouldn't start if I tried).

Last night and today I've been in a weird mood. Yesterday was my birthday which caused me to think about things I normally don't. I almost wrote a more personal entry but I was able to fight it off for now.

They are partying downstairs at the moment, which is probably a good thing... I hooked up my keyboard so maybe I'll do a little emoting that way.

Week Update

Monday - Cleaned up garage while waiting for trick-or-treaters that never showed. I did get there pretty late (7:30), so I missed them already. It made me sad... and now I have three bags of candy to eat.
Tuesday - picked up remaining stuff in garage. Noticed I forgot to tell landlord I cancelled the utilities, so the place is without power.
Wednesday - Our team finally won trivia again. We haven't won in probably nine months. We blew all $100 that night.
Thursday - Had the majority of my stuff moved in. My first night at the new place sleeping on a bed. It wasn't easy getting up this morning.

Cabin Boy

Oh I guess I should mention that yes, I did go to Cabin Boy on Saturday, and, having not made much of an effort to find someone to go with, I went alone. Knowing that it was sold-out made it a bit easier since I figured I might be able to make someone looking for a ticket happy. I got tired of waiting in the lobby, though, so I just told the ticket girl to give it away to anyone that needed it.

I thought about what clever thing I should say or ask to Chris as he signed my book, but gave up quickly. I ended up telling him how much I enjoyed his TV show and he thanked me for that. Good enough, I can say I talked to him.

They had half an hour of Q&A before the movie. He provided some insight into why "Cabin Boy" turned out to be such a mess. [He didn't appear to be too proud of it, and probably left the theater before the movie even started] It turns out Tim Burton was supposed to direct it, but bailed as things got started. Most of the big time director budget left with him, and the new director, Chris' friend, had no directing experience. So that explains alot. When asked about "Get a Life!" Chris stated he didn't realize how many fans of the show there were, and that while making some of the shows he wasn't too impressed with them, but now when he watches, he is surprised how well they turned out. Apparently, he just got done with audio commentary on a new DVD of season one. I can't wait! When pressed for his favorite episode, he didn't commit to any in particular but did bring up the submarine episode being one he liked. Apparently that was also the episode that got Tim Burton interested in making a movie with Chris. He also noted how he pitched the show to FOX--as a show about a 30-year old with a child's sense of adventure, trying to help his friend enjoy life. Rather than the actual show about an insane guy with insane parents surrounded by an insane town.
