Coming Soon

A way overdue vacation. I might just make it until then. Next week I might survive work due to the 4th of July day off. But, then I have back to back gigs Friday and Saturday night. The week following should be alright as it will be a work trip to California again. Those trips usually go well. I just remembered it was a week long work trip in March that probably saved me from quitting. After that--vacation. I had originally planned for just a week but now I'm wishing it was longer. Unfortunately yet another music obligation will keep it to just a week. Maybe I will take another week in August.

Posts

I've approved and posted a couple of drafts from the last week, so if you're interested at all you can scroll down to 6/24 and you'll see four new entries inserted since then. Only half of them have any substance. I'm not sure if those are the work-related ones or not.

Wings in Disguise

"Judy in Disguise" John Fred and his Playboy Band

One of my favorite oldies. I've heard it's a parody on Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds but listening to it now I'm not getting why. The instrumentation is unique with saxes, a marimba, and a string section solo. The piano part is cool with I and IV chords rockin' back and forth simultaneously with a I-VI-V bass part.

Boss

Last night after some extracurricular activites (in which I bowled my league PR 155!) someone on my team told me how my boss was having a tough time sleeping at night, with all the stress she's experiencing, etc. It's probably best that I wasn't thinking clearly enough to say what I thought of later--"she ought to find a less stressful job, then." The only way I am able to work in this position is by not speaking to her and pretending to work for someone else. I've been doing that for at least half a year. She's not a bad or evil person--I just can't communicate with her and I don't want to try.

Zip it

Today was the second day in a row when, in a meeting, someone said "I'm not finished," right after I had rudely interrupted them, after which I immediately replied "I'm sorry" and shut my mouth for the rest of the meeting. It was just about a year ago when I began this new position when I started getting similarly offended by others who were rudely interrupting me. The only difference is that I let them continue, attributing their rude behavior to cultural differences. Though it's really no fault of their own, I've grown tired of forgiving people who are offending me this way, and it is really bothering me that I am becoming more like them.

TV

I had to return my TV last weekend. It worked great for a week, and then it showed a bunch of greens and pinks where it shouldn't have. The nice thing is that I was able to exchange it no problem. I think the whole process took less than ten minutes, and that includes the trips to the car. I'm really glad I bought it locally. The new one has worked fine (so far).

Kebabilicious

If you find yourself anywhere near 7th & Neches Thursdays through Saturdays, go grab a kebab from this place (it's in the big parking lot). They're the best! I always get the extra-spicy beef-lamb kebob shawarma. How could you get anything else? Chicken just doesn't cut it for Greek food. I don't remember if I mentioned the place in Santa Clara called Wrap This that makes shawarmas, but ever since then I've been hooked.
