NBA Finals
Great, the teams I wanted to make it to the finals since the first round have both made it! The reasons for my picks are only slightly more valid than picking teams with my favorite colors. That being that I like Mark Cuban because he's a loud mouth spastic coach I find entertaining, and I like Shaq cause he calls into a (non-sports themed) radio show I listen to and he is funny and personable when he calls.

I pick based on whether or not I'd like to visit the city they're based in or not...
I guess I use that a bit too. For instance, while I was watching a Spurs/Mavs game at LJ's, I told someone I wanted the Mavs to win because I've been to San Antonio enough to know I don't like it much. However, the last time I spent any time in Dallas I was probably 12, so Dallas is somewhat mysterious to me. So I don't know if it sucks or not yet.
